For Phil, the formal working sector did not satisfy his deep longing and need to create. His passion has always been, and remains art. He has chosen realism as a way to express his thoughts, observation and imagination. He paints what he sees. Capturing every day scenes of life with a strong affinity to people and figures, he transforms his subject into a play of shadow and light. The uniqueness of using transparent layers of paint in acrylic and oil creates a sense of depth and mood and the use of the texture of the canvas forms a distinctive and intrinsic part of his work. In light of his professionalism and uniqueness in style, he has elevated into the genre of South African investment artists. His art is convincing, original, unique and strong!
