Nicci Olivier

LINES, TEXTURES, FORM AND DESIGN

Nicci Olivier is a professional South African artist residing in Bryanston, Johannesburg. She obtained her BA (Fine Art) degree at Potchefstroom University, majoring in Painting and Art History. From 1987-2003 she taught art to children and adults and held a number of workshops. Nicci has participated in over 30 group exhibitions and held 6 solo shows throughout South Africa and the UK. From 1999-2000 Nicci lived in the UK working and regularly exhibiting as an artist. During this time she was selected to tutor Art in Menorca and had a monoprint selected for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in London. In 1997 De Beers Diamond Mine in Kimberley purchased a number of her paintings for their Ladies Executive Suite. Nicci was also commissioned to do over 50 paintings for an NGO Guest House and Conference Centre in 2004. Nicci has completed numerous portrait, landscape, figure study, still-life and sculpture commissions for clients and corporates in SA, UK, USA, Holland, Australia, New Zealand, Croatia and Japan. Nicci has been accepted at Assemblage, and works from a studio there with a number of prominent artists. She was one of four Assemblage artists showcased at the Assemblage Open Day in February. During May of 2015 she will be exhibiting at the Annual Rotary Exhibition with both Figures and Form and Printmaking groups. An invitation to submit work for the Turbine Art Fair has been received, and Nicci looks forward to having work on show at the fair in July 2015. "Mark making, textures, symbolism and content in artwork thrills me. I revel in literally 'drawing' from the entire artists 'technical toolbox' (line, texture, form, structure, design etc.) to make my personal marks and interpretation of my subject matter. Landscapes, water, seascapes and the human form hold endless fascination for me. Preferred mediums are printmaking, drawing, sculpture and painting. I generally work from life and images that I have generated."
