?My response to painting is sensory; the space on the canvas is given over to an ambiance of colour and texture. My paintings are constructions, paying most of my attention to the painting medium, building up glazes, in lots of colours and textures using oil paint, paper, coloured glass and watercolour. I hope to build up a painting over time trying to give it a sense of history. My paintings are objects in themselves, not always seeking to be narrative of an illustration, although sometimes I am tempted to include a figurative element to give the viewer something to identify with.?
