Sibylle von Welck

I am fascinated by all the colours and forms around me - my head is filled with them. So many pictures and impressions waiting to come alive. Over a period of 16 years I lived in fascinating countries such as India, which I think is the most colourful country in the world - so rich and stark in contrasts. However, coming to Africa has supplemented my Indian experiences. The splendour of the African continent with its magnificent open landscapes fills me with an awe I have not experienced anywhere else. During these years I met a number of art teachers who helped me develop my art skills. One of them, Cyril Coetzee, whom I look up to, once said to me: “just paint what you see” - and this is what I do and will continue to do when I return to Germany in 2016.
