Lee Scott is a lecturer in the Fashion Design programme at the Durban University of Technology where she teaches drawing and illustration, as well as fabric printing.
She sees her creative work not as a single idea or a unitary concept, but as an association of ideas, concepts and themes that simultaneously reinforce and contradict each other. This fusion and association of ideas she realizes is what makes her craft rich in imagery. The ‘routes’ she has taken to get her to this here and now, in conjunction with the acknowledgment that her ‘roots’ colour her perceptions of everything she experiences, are directors of her inspiration, identity and individuality.
Her work can be viewed at the Art Eye Gallery (www.arteye.co.za).
