SANET LIEBENBERG

I am a South African artist living in Australia. I get my inspiration from my surroundings, and from the brave, relentless spirit of the people of South Africa. I try to capture the emotion and the essence of a personality in the facial expression and posture. Being in the psychology field, the appreciation of our 'humanness' is visible through my art. There is a certain 'beauty of abandonment' and evidence of hardship so visible on faces when you visit remote areas in South Africa where the way of life has been largely untouched by technology. I especially enjoy the juxtaposition of light and dark, whilst also incorporating vibrancy of colour.
