MICHAEL SCHUR

I have been passionate about painting for many years. The classic lines of gothic architecture have interested me; also the contrasts of stained glass windows with their vibrant colours. Oil is my preferred medium, with strong rhythmical movement through layers of paint. I have been inspired by the masters of impressionism and the post-impressionists as well. Colour and texture are my way of relating to my subject matter, with strong compositional lines, which are a common denominator in all my paintings. I am influenced by the phenomenon of nature's harmony. The affinity that people find in nature's magical effects fascinates me. Musical themes, seascapes and street scenes are also very much part of my source of inspiration as is reflected in my work.
