After 30 creative years in advertising, Peter and his wife Jenny (an enthusiastic quilter), bought an acre of ground and designed and built a thatched cottage in Greyton where they retired to the Overberg to pursue art, craft and gardening.
"With my ad agency background, making things look good is part of my DNA. If I paint your portrait it will be you, that is a given, but you on your best day ever!
The elements of temperature, intensity and especially colour, with a delicate balance between realism and the excitement of arbitrary hues, are vital in my painting process, whatever the subject matter.
Using a graphic style with acrylics or pencil, portraits and wildlife studies are my favourite subjects. I try to achieve a feeling of spontaneity, expressiveness and attitude. For me every stroke is an adventure because there's more to art than duplicating reality".
Peter is fortunate to have many satisfied buyers in South Africa and abroad including, unexpectedly, from remote Bermuda and Borneo!
After years of fulfilling country life the Diggerys have returned to their coastal roots and now live in Hermanus.
